Phylum: Ascomycota Family: Pyronemataceae
Scutellinia hyperborea (Boud.) Le Gal
Found on wet coastal machair with bryophytes. Apothecia up to 8mm across. Very similar to S. minor which has slightly smaller subglobose spores, with less dense but perhaps slightly taller warts. For S. minor, Schumacher notes "Between these hairs large, swollen, rounded, and hyaline 'hydroid hairs' are frequent." There would appear to be similar structures with this species but not mentioned by Schumacher.
Scutellinia hyperborea has not been recorded in Britain,
