Fungi Outer Hebrides

Phylum: Basidiomycota   Family: Hydnangiaceae

Laccaria fraterna (Sacc.) Pegler

Gumtree Deceiver

The common name is derived from its close association with Eucalytus species. It is also found with other broadleaved trees, especially Salix. Not easily differentiated from the common Laccaria species but the reddish-brown cap gives a clue to something different. Rarely recorded
